Recently, my sister and I took a much needed and well deserved vacay to Riviera Maya, Mexico to celebrate my birthday. We stayed at the Unico 2087 resort. Unico is a 5 diamond, all-inclusive, luxury resort for adults only. That's right, no kids in sight! I really enjoyed my stay there and wanted to share my experience with you.

Accommodations
We stayed in the Alcoba Ocean View room with double, queen beds. The room was very clean, spacious and gorgeous. The bathroom had double vanity sinks, a separate water closet and the shower was huge! The room was decorated in neutral colors and was very relaxing. There are some rooms on the first level that had swim-up pools, but ours had a very big balcony with a hydro tub, couch and table. The fridge was stocked with tons of beverages (including beer) and there were plenty of snacks.
Food and Drinks
Unico is known for the food and mixology. While we were there, Superbia was going on, which is a yearly Summer event where top chefs and mixologists from around the world come and create special menus. We weren't able to get reservations for the special restaurant, but I did have a lychee pina colada type of drink from the guest mixologist.
We were able to book reservations at all of the other restaurants and the food was delicious! We had Japanese at Mura House, Italian at Mi Carisa and the filet mignon at the 2087 Grill on my birthday. The breakfast buffet was amazing and we had mimosas everyday. Even the food at the pool was good. We also went down to the coffee shop a few times where I had a Mexican Mocha and some pastries.
Hotel Grounds
The entire resort was beautiful and the lobby smelled so good. The grounds were immaculate. All of the bathrooms had towels to dry your hands instead of paper towels or an awful dryer. There are 3 different pools and each one had plenty of chairs and towels available. The one thing that I really liked is that the quiet hours were enforced. This is not a loud, party type of resort, which was perfect for us. We went to relax and that was the vibe. We did have a younger group of women that stayed next to us who blasted music at 2am. Security handled that promptly though.
Spa
Unfortunately the spa services are not part of the all-inclusive amenities but we wanted to enjoy it anyway. I was able to get a great deal on the Hydrothermal Experience so we tried that. Let me tell you, it was definitely an experience! First, we took a normal shower before heading to the sauna. After the sauna, we were given a face mask to apply and then entered the steam room. It was so hot in there (which was the point)! We had a towel to wipe the remainder of the mask off before entering the cold shower room. My sister screamed when the cold water jetted out at us from the wall. LOL! Next, we got in a lukewarm tub with jets which was really nice. They served us spa water, fruit and nuts. We declined the cold plunge pool. Overall, we loved it and would highly recommend if you visit.
Service
The service at Unico was top notch. Each guest gets assigned to a Local Host (concierge) that is there to assist you with whatever you need. Our host decorated the room for my birthday and gave us a bottle of champagne and chocolates. It was really nice! All of the waitstaff, bartenders, restaurant hosts, front desk and service staff in general were extremely accommodating and pleasant.
Overall, I would highly recommend going to Unico 2087. We set out to relax, have good food and drinks and have a great time. Mission Accomplished!
